Its time to scratch your heads

"Diwali Offer scratch the card and get exciting gifts worth lakhs"

Get the hell out of here, what are these people thinking, you see alot of these at the time of festive seasons and the truth behind this is you are wasting time in scratching that card, it is not worth a rupee and gifts what you get is only disappointment "Better luck next time"

Often shop owners dish out these "fit for nothing" offers to allure customers to buy products in their shops and malls and for a surprise this time its a major mobile phone company which has stepped in to these crap offers and i have never heard anyone by luck has benefited by these offers also there will be no announcements that "this" person has won the lucky draw. they make offer announcements and forget to give the prices after, true fact is there will be nothing to give neither the scratch card or coupon etc..have the wordings " Congrats your are the luck winner of this 'crap' "

This offer was a total farce that almost no one got great cash backs instead got useless wallpapers, ringtones and applications why on earth one should buy phone only to get applications and wallpapers as offers when there are umpteen available on the internet a simple google search would do wonders here, had it been any free gifts like headphones, blutooth headsets, speaker systems etc there are a lot which can be given and no one would have cursed that company on that auspicious day

what i have observed in the recent years is it is only an act of hood-winking people and make them fall into the trap and sincerely the prices and offers are not present in it, mostly i advice relatives, friends of mine not to buy products capped under these offers

You can even rely on discounts like 10% to 50 % but that too have cons in it, but when compared to the said above they are considerable

So when next time you see any sort of these eyewashing offers stay away and avoid it or dont be the first fooled out instead check with the others who were fooled

Diffusing B in movies

Bomb diffusing sequences in most of the indian movies will be a nail-biter, hero will be in a situation to save some people in factory, public meeting, old building etc....

This will be the moment everyone scratches their head which wire red, green or blue in that bomb needs to be disconnected so that the timer stops, there will only be fewer seconds left and finally our hero cuts any wire and the timer stops just at 2 or 3 sec before the time of blast, thats acceptable our hero is not a bomb diffuser nor a electronics engineer

Now this is interesting who on earth said that hollywood movies dont have such sort of artificial nail-biting scenes one night i saw Armageddon movie(released in the year 1998) on star movies and it was the first time i saw it i wont go into the story though and it goes like this hero, his crew, an astronaut from NASA and some sciencetists are on a space mission at one stage people down on earth decides to abort the mission losing hope that it will not be a success so they trigger a nuclear bomb so that the space shuttle explodes on space

That NASA astronaut is the only person who knows a bit about it and hero will literally fall on his feet to deactivate it and promises the astronaut that he will complete the mission successfully for god sake and finally persuades the astronaut, 3 min left he dont know which wire he should cut, sweat pours down from everyone's face red or blue, red or blue...... is the murmur, finally he cuts the blue wire the times stops at 2 sec

Hey let us be logical here a NASA astronaut who would have surely known that the bomb would be triggered at one stage was he not told how to deactivate it atleast in case of emergencies and why he should break into the circuitry of that nuclear bomb to diffuse it ??

Save battery power in Phones

Here are some tips to save battery power in phones

1. Screensavers are always been an eye-candy feature on cell phones and it costs your battery power switch Off screensavers

2. Next is the screen brightness or contrast make the slider almost to its minimum position which helps a lot in consuming battery power, latest phones comes with automatic light sensors which alters the display light according to the lighting conditions

3. Switch off the Dual mode(when you are not in an area where there is no 3G coverage) and change it to GSM mode because when your GSM signal decreases the device automatically searches for 3G or UMTS signal more the device search for network signal it drains your battery, you can find the settings here Menu > settings > Network mode > GSM/ Dualmode/ UMTS this applies to all phones please dont qoute me if it differs from what you have in the device, you can also find this on the device user guide

Note: The above mentioned(point 3) applies only to phones having 3g capability and ability to change between GSM and 3G modes

4. Next is the Packet data connection if your are accessing internet on your cell phone through GPRS of your network provider go to settings > connections> Packet data > change it to "when needed" if it is "when available", the navigation steps mentioned above suits for Nokia phones and check your device use guide to change it in your device

5. Switch off Bluetooth, Wi-fi if not needed (applies to phones having bluetooth, Wi-fi)

S60 smartphones RAM management

Smartphones are made to behave smartly and are considered as siblings of the Omnipresent computers and Laptops. As the topic says RAM in a smartphone is not huge when compared to that of computers, here are some things which u can do inorder to maintain RAM in its level of operation so that u can avoid annoying "Memory Full" warnings

Important Note: Below procedures applies to Symbian S60 V3 and V5 devices

1. First make sure you dont have any applications running in the background and close all Open applications, a long press on the Menu key will show the applications running in the background and exit all those

2. Some third party applications are needed in order to access system folders, accessing with the inbulit file manager is not possible on some smartphones. Applications like X-plore and Y-browser serves for good purpose and helps in clearing ur "Cache" folder of your phone, a simple Google search on these applications can do wonders

3. Third Party applications again, Handy Taskman and Jbtaskman other two applications which helps in manging your device applications, Some applications such as Camera, Log, Gallery etc wont give back the RAM they have consumed to the device once closed(exit) and stays in the background eating RAM by using Handy Taskman or Jbtaskman you can close them to get back the amount of RAM these application consume

Note: Pressing the Red(call end key) button doesn't exit some application, so always Use Options > exit to to exit from an application

The above three procedures manges RAM usage in the device, the upcoming procedure helps in maintaining the Phone memory in tact

Phone memory is another important aspect the specification sheet of device says Inbuilt phone memory is 100mb means that it is amount of shared memory between the phone and RAM in this case free executable RAM can be around 30-35 Mb and the rest is user storage Phone memory its better to have some memory on the phone

Store your messages and e-mail attachments on to your memory card by changing the storage location Messaging > options > settings > other > Memory in use, bychanging to memory card the apllication may respond slowly and it depends on your comfort level
